CAPTAIN/ADMINISTRATOR

Bryan Whitaker is a native of Fort Myers, Florida, and  moved to Greene in 2014, and has built his life there. He came to New Berlin EMS as an EMT in the Spring of 2025, where he was voted by the Village Board and hired as the Captain in September 2025. Bryan brings an array of experience to the NBAS, starting his career in EMS and the state Psychiatric system, working Inpatient Pediatric Psychiatry at Elmira Psychiatric Center and Greater Binghamton Psychiatric Center, also serving time in Acute Adult Psych and Geriatric Psych. Later, Bryan went on to serve with the New York State Mental Health Police, based out of Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center in New York City. Following, came back to Chenango County and served as a Corrections Officer with the Chenango County Sheriff's Office. Bryan has also worked in the addiction recovery field, and has been a member of the Groton Fire Department, Groton Ambulance, and currently with Oxford Fire Department and EMS. Outside of New Berlin, Bryan is the Municipal Historian for the Town and Village of Greene. 

LIEUTENANT

Matthew Whitaker is a native of Trumansburg in Tompkins County, moving to Chenango County in 2023. Matthew started his career in both fire and EMS with Trumansburg Fire Department and EMS as an Interior Firefighter and EMT. Matt spent time working with the Developmentally Disabled before moving to Vermont, where he worked as an ER Technician, then moved back to New York. He  later transitioning to Groton Fire Department and Ambulance, where he obtained the rank of Captain with the Fire Department. Currently with Oxford Fire Department and EMS, Matthew came to the New Berlin Ambulance Service in October 2025 and was appointed Lieutenant.
